Item number 4 above states "the public rarely has all the facts" including, it seems when they visit your website. Mrs. Bonnen's class action suite was to address the alleged violation of the Tenant Law in Chicago which requires Horizon Realty to keep tenants security deposits in an interest bearing account and to give annual payouts of the interest to the tenants.

Please be sure you are reporting correctly so the public has a chance at getting all the facts.

Also, this would be two instances that Mrs Bonnen was addressing with Horizon. On the Chicago Better Business Bureau's website there are 4 other tenant complaints against Horizon in the last 36 months. In only 1 of those cases has the tenant acknowledged the situation as being resolved.

And yet Horizon has filed the lawsuit because "(Horizon) was a company of good name, fame and reputation and was deservedly held in high esteem by and among renters, potential renters and the general public" Quote taken from paragraph 3 of the complaint filed against Mrs Bonnen by Horizon. So, they are claiming they have an excellent reputation damaged by a single line on twitter. They should be more concerned about the actual complaints of their tenants.

Just my opinion. Please don't sue me over it.

Ignoring any rights or wrongs as to the lawsuit and any details involved in it and any negative exposure the suit itself has generated.

You don’t have to be an expert in PR or even in business to see what a stupid thing it was to publicly describe yourselves a sue first organization.
This is utterly reckless, arrogant and demonstrates a callous disregard for your customers.

If I were looking for an apartment then that statement alone would make them the last company I would consider.

This is self-inflicted damage. Rather than reacting in a way to preserve their reputation, the company has made themselves look even worse in the public eye. They went straight into retaliation mode. They did everything wrong—they became immediately defensive, went right for the throat, and didn’t even address the real issue – an unhappy tenant.
